Aiden Gilsenan wins Postgraduate Research Prize

Aiden Gilsenan wins Postgraduate Research Prize Congratulations to Aidan Gilsenan on winning Meath Archaeological and Historical Society’s Postgraduate Research Prize. Aidan has a Masters degree in Irish History from Maynooth University and is currently disseminating the history of Prosper Meath as part of the celebration of our 40th Anniversary this year. As you may have heard, we are planning to commemorate our history from 1982 to the present. We began as a campaign to build Meath Sheltered Workshop and have remained at the heart of the community since. A wide range of groups have helped to support the work of the organisation over the years such as the GAA, IFA, Arch Club, Navan Lions Club and Navan Rotary Club. Thousands of people have in some way been involved with the organisation, whether as volunteers, donors or as service users and their friends and families. Understanding COVID 19   Below is a link to an international survey on the impact of COVID 19 on individuals with intellectual and developmental disability and their caregivers. The survey is led by the UCD Centre for Disability Studies in Ireland and has a team of 26 researchers working in 19 countries. This survey has full ethical approval and is entirely anonymous. If you are 18 years or older and are either (1) a family member of a person of any age who has an intellectual and developmental disability, or (2) a paid staff member supporting a person or persons of any age who has intellectual and developmental disabilities, we invite you and members of your network to take part in the survey. Pride of Place Awards 2019 The Trim Municipal District Awards Night took place on 26th September.  Our community sensory garden won the Community Age Friendly Initiative award. We have been receiving lots of positive feedback from members of the public about the garden and we are delighted that the contribution this collaborative project is making in the community has been officially recognised. Thank you again to everyone in the Council, particularly our amazing Area Engineer Maura who made this possible from the start and to Tony and his team who continue to maintain the garden. Thank you also to our friends in Facebook who supported us in no small way to achieve such a high standard that can be enjoyed by all members of the community regardless of age or ability.
